Epoxy floor coatings contain pigments that will expand fast when there is exposure to heat, making the coatings good fire retardants. There is a thick barrier that is formed as the expansion of pigments occur, and this allow for time until the fire is put off naturally or by the fire-fighting team.
The fact that epoxy floor coatings can be water borne, high solids or solvent borne, makes it effective in many surfaces.
